Thanks to all who organized the alumni event for women basketball players on Dec. 30th. It was great to see former teammates and watch the current Lady Cards win. We were told that the women who attended represented 70 years of basketball. Way to go, ladies!

As was reported in the Cincinnati Enquirer on Monday, March 30, the Colerain Boosters have indeed made its final payment on the $500,000 loan for the stadium's Field Turf. As a result of the vision put forth by Coach Kerry Coombs and presented to the organization by Skip MacKay, Booster President Warren Schulte provided the necessary leadership and willingness to sign a loan document on behalf of the Boosters. But the project didn't end with the installation of the field in August 2004. To reach the point where the loan could be retired, the Boosters relied on the Field Turf Committee, parents, community members, and alumni to raise the funds and honor pledges so monthly payments could be met. This project was in addition to the regular support the Boosters provide to students in all extracurricular activities at the high school and its two middle schools. To everyone who supported this project through contributions or attendance at one of the many Booster events, the Boosters sincerely thank you! Key Facts About The Project - 1,074 individuals contributed $386,000 with contributions ranging from $5 to $50,000. - 87% of the individual contributions came from within the Colerain High School attendance area. - Alumni contributed 40% of the funds. - Contributions were received from Florida to Washington and California to Vermont and points in between. - 65 Corporate Partners contributed $216,000. - It was expected that the loan would be retired in 5 years and was actually paid off after 57 payments - 3 1/4 years ahead of schedule. - The Boosters continued to support all extracurricular activities with other major projects completed at the same time, i.e. Soccer and Softball storage buildings, Cardinal Village, Concession Stand renovations, Wrestling Mats at the two middle schools, student scholarships, etc. The anticipated benefits of installing Field Turf have been realized: - Consistent, safe playing surface for football - All students are able to use the field for PE classes - Middle Schools play all of their home games at the high school - The Band has a safe place to practice and perform - Soccer can use the field if the Soccer field is deemed unplayable - Baseball & Softball can use the field for practice when necessary - Community use - Lacrosse, Youth Football A Vision became Reality as a result of a carefully crafted plan. It clearly wasn't easy and there were some on the outside who thought we would fail expecting that we would be looking for a bailout. But that wasn't about to happen because.....................'We Are Colerain!'

Early Saturday morning, February 14, Colerain lost its biggest fan. Norb Monning, affectionately known as "Mr. Colerain", passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital. Norb attended nearly every Colerain athletic event and musical performance for more than 30 years, both home and away. Norb had a passion for the students at Colerain and will be dearly missed by players, coaches, parents, and staff, both past and present. Norb was not only known at Colerain; he was recognized by opposing school's as Colerain's #1 fan. He was a gentle man who always had a smile on his face and a friendly greeting for anyone he met. He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of sorrow. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, February 17 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Paul Young Funeral Home at 7345 Hamilton Ave. in Mt. Healthy. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

As an update, the Colerain Boosters are ahead of schedule in paying off the loan for Field Turf installed in 2004. Every payment has been made on time and additional principal is added to each payment so that the loan will be paid in a shorter time period than originally planned. With everyone making pledge payments in a timely manner, the loan will be fully paid well ahead of schedule. No one individual or group of individuals have guaranteed the loan nor is there a need given the pledge payments made to date and those anticipated in the future. As a side note, the entire project has been funded through generous contributions of both individuals and local businesses. At no time have the Boosters received Tax money from the Board of Education to support this or any of its projects.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on Monday, May, 17 at 5:30 p.m. to officially begin the project to install FieldTurf in the stadium. This project is the largest ever undertaken by the Boosters and it will benefit all students as the surface can be used for: - PE classes - Marching Band practices and competitions - Baseball and Softball practices - Soccer practices and games in the event that the Soccer Stadium can't be used for games due to field conditions. - Football practices and games - Middle School Football games - Community use - Soccer and Football The Boosters need to raise $650,000 over the next five years to fund this project plus a number of other projects aimed to benefit students participating in all extracurricular activities. Within the next few weeks, we will begin providing updates on the status of the project.

After moving to Pennsylvania in 1989, it was very refreshing to be able to look back at a few Colerain faces. There truly is "no place like home".I miss Cincy dearly, especially Old Colerain Township park.I am fortunate to still have my parents.I was little brother to Doug and Dave Johnson (class of 69 & 70..or close to ) and big brother to Deron and Donovan ( class of 84 & 87..or close to ).I was semi quite in school. My junior year I transferred to Northwest for Auto Mechanics ( grease monkey ).I twisted wrenches in my junior and senior years and after graduation took a career in the printing trades where I have been ever since. Congrats to all that made the Hall O Fame........well gotta go.Thanks to all that make this web site possible because truly THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME.....GOD BLESS! Dan Johnson ( northwest class of 76....or close to )
